Professor Sriram is Faculty at the Centre for Public Policy, IIM Bangalore. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of Institute for Development of Research in Banking Technology – set up by Reserve Bank of India. In the past he was the ICICI Bank Lalita Gupte Chair Professor of Microfinance, and Chairperson Finance and Accounting Area at the IIM Ahmedabad; on the faculty of IRMA, and Vice President of Basix. He has also taught at the Solvay Brussels School of Business and Economics.

Sriram is a co-author of four Books - Beyond Micro-credit published by Sage-Vistaar and two books on Flow of Credit to Small and Marginal Farmers and the Inclusive Finance India Report 2015 and 2016.

Sriram has served on several committees set up by GoI, RBI and NABARD. He was on the External Advisory Committee of the Reserve Bank of India for granting licenses to Small Finance Banks. He is currently chairing an expert committee to examine the feasibility of integrating the DCCBs and State Co-operative Bank to set up a Kerala Co-operative Bank. He also on the board of NDDB Dairy Services, Indian Dairy Machinery Company, Microcredit Ratings International and Centre for Budget and Policy Studies, and a Trustee of Pratham Books and Dastkar Andhra.
